Raymond J. Williams, 86, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Tues., March 31, 2015 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast Hospice House, Lecanto, FL. A Homosassa native he was born Aug. 8, 1928 to Arthur Haley and Victoria Ann (Head) Williams, one of five children. Raymond began commercial fishing for mullet at a young age and in 1954 became a professional fishing guide out of the Homosassa River, a career that lasted 48 years. Raymond J. Williams, 86, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Tues., March 31, 2015 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast Hospice House, Lecanto, FL. A Homosassa native he was born Aug. 8, 1928 to Arthur Haley and Victoria Ann (Head) Williams, one of five children. Raymond began commercial fishing for mullet at a young age and in 1954 became a professional fishing guide out of the Homosassa River, a career that lasted 48 years. He was a retired member of the Homosassa Guides Association and was of the Pentecostal faith. Mr. Williams is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, JoAnn M. Williams, Homosassa; daughter Dawn Long (husband Jimmy), Homosassa; brothers Alec Williams, Homosassa and Daniel F. "Tommy" Williams, Inverness; grandchildren Lauren Long, Homosassa and Jacquelyn Wunderlich (husband Christian), Abilene, TX and great grandchildren Lane Michael Long, Homosassa and Noah Alexander Wunderlich, Abilene, TX. Raymond was preceded in death by infant sons Thomas Ray Williams and Benjamin John Williams, and two brothers, Floyd and Marvin Williams. Friends will be received on Fri., April 3, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, where a chapel service will take place on Sat., April 4, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Stage Stand Cemetery, Homosassa Springs. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast.
