William A. "Bill" O'Donnell, 77, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sun., Sept. 10, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he was born May 24, 1940 to John and Helen (Heidenbluth) O'Donnell, the youngest of three children. William A. "Bill" O'Donnell, 77, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sun., Sept. 10, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he was born May 24, 1940 to John and Helen (Heidenbluth) O'Donnell, the youngest of three children. Bill, as he was known to many, proudly and honorably served the citizens of Chicago as a police officer, a career that spanned 26 years, then held down numerous other jobs, even after his retirement. He married Mary K. Schreyer on June 18, 1960 and moved to Clearwater, FL from the Chicago area in 1990, then to Homosassa, FL in 2004 and loved golf, fishing and gardening. He was also a big Chicago Cubs fan as well as a Green Bay Packers fan. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by four children: Joyce Solvig (husband Jeff); Gail O'Donnell (loving fiancé Dean Will); Bill O'Donnell (wife Judi) and Maureen Abrasevic (loving boyfriend Tim Ruhl); daughter-in-law Tina O'Donnell; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. O'Donnell was preceded in death by a son, Robert O'Donnell; brother Tom O'Donnell and his wife Shirley and sister Carol Miller and her husband Warren.
